Write that down: TTRPG Notebooks
Hi y’all,
Am I starting a blog specifically so I can tell you a little bit about these notebooks I’ve designed? I’ll never* tell ;)
The fact is, I’ve been dying to print notebooks since I did my first, incredibly gay version of player’s note pages nine months ago. And judging from the nearly 7,000 notes on the original Tumblr post, ttrpg fans were pretty into them too.
I like to think think this latest iteration is more than worth the wait.
A super shiny glossy cover, perfect-bound to withstand your party**, and 48 full color pages for your adventuring goodness. For you paper nerds, the pages are 100lb (hashtag yum). It’s system-agnostic because that’s important to me - I want you to be able to use these with whatever game you’re playing.
There are three sheets for each game session: one with a series of leading questions, one with lined paper, and one with graph paper. I landed on this combo after a whole heck of a lot of Twitter conversations - and I’m so grateful to everyone who chimed in and voted in my poll*** on it.
I’m excited to share this first batch of notebooks. They’re just the beginning of a larger interest of mine: to bring you accessories and tools that fit into your games and are adorable. Because, honestly, those are things I wish I had.
To that end, I’m still working on a developing a version for game masters. As a 5e DM**** myself, I’m honestly feeling a little guilty for not having done so already. From the tweets and insta-messages I get, so many of you are leading SUCH incredible games and it makes me proud to be a part of this nerdy, cute community. I promise I won’t let you down.
One final thing I want to address: initially these designs will be in fairly small runs of roughly 50-100 per printing. I’ve made the decision to finance myself, rather than raise funds through Kickstarter. This was a hard choice to make — in addition to financial support, Kickstarter brings a much wider audience and is an awesome marketing tool. It’s disappointing to let that go, but recent anti-union moves by the management of Kickstarter shaped this decision for me. While the organizers at Kickstarter are not yet calling for a boycott, I’ve decided to take a step back and wait to see how Kickstarter responds to the results of their efforts. This is entirely a risk management decision, and I admire all the other small creators moving forward with projects with a ‘tools down’ clause.
The good news: printing notebooks is a much faster turnaround enamel pins, and if y’all want more, it only takes a couple weeks.
Ok that was a lot. Was it too much? Does anyone even read blogs anymore? Did it have enough pictures? Unfortunately, there is no way to leave feedback or respond to things on the internet and we may never know.
Ta ta for now!
xoxo,
livelygold
* yes, the answer is obviously yes.
** this is not a joke, my tiefling sorcerer grabbed one, looked me dead in the eye and said “the first thing i like to do with a notebook is break it” and proceeded to bend it as hard as she could. it did not break.
*** three pages per game is an amount that covers 85% of note takers in the poll i ran. statistical significance not guaranteed, i did not calculate the z score. get off my back.
****did you know dungeon master is a wotc trademark? yeah no kidding. catch me using ‘game master’ in upcoming products.
